What does Dr. Oz believe?

In the past week I've heard the name of Dr. Oz mentioned a half dozen times, it was used in ways that praised his wise advice and understanding as it related to physical health.
Anytime the wisdom and advise of any individual becomes so well known and talked about, especially in the Christian community, I tend to want to know more about who they are and what their beliefs and practices are. In other words, things that stir the interest of Christians cause me to want to investigate with caution especially since we know that even the "evil one" is disguised as an angel of light.
Yes, I do want to know what the spiritual beliefs are of those whom the Christian community are lifting up as wise with great insight.
Yes, it does matter what the beliefs are of those who receive my endorsement, isn't that being discerning?
After some research into the background of the famous Dr. Mehmet Oz, some of my discoveries were a bit disturbing to say the least.
He seems to have
a far reaching influence in today's culture. Many people are concerned about physical healthy lifestyles and are looking for advise and instruction on how to achieve better health. Dr. Oz appears to be filling the role of health advisor to a large and growing audience since he first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2004 and in 2009, with the help of Winfrey's production company, has launched his own show "The Dr. Oz Show".
Dr. Mehmet Oz is a well known and trusted physician; Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Columbia University.
Folks seem to hang on his every word and belief regardless if it is proven or theory. He does have some very good advise regarding physical healthy practices, however, it's quite shocking to find that his spiritual beliefs are far removed from Christian doctrine and are more cult like in my estimation.
Dr. Oz is involved daily in the Neo-Hindu practice of transcendental meditation developed by Mahesh Prasad Varma, later named Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who's devotees referred to him as "His Holiness". Varma became known as the "giggling guru" as well as "the guru to the Beatles" in the late 1960's.
Dr. Oz is inspired by Emmanuel Swedenborg, a cult leader who died in 1772 in Sweden. Swedenborgianism has up to 50,000 members worldwide according to the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry website. They deny the atonement, the trinity, and the deity of the Holy Spirit.
They believe all religions lead to God and that Christianity must go through a rebirth. Also, they do not believe in a personal devil. They believe the Bible is not inspired and that when people die, they become an angel or an evil spirit.
Emmanuel Swedenborg had a vision in 1745 where he supposedly saw creatures crawling on the walls. He believed God then appeared to him as a man and told him that he would be the person to promote the new teachings to the world.
Swedenborg claimed that the Lord had opened his spiritual eyes, so that from then on he could freely visit heaven and hell, and talk with angels, demons and other spirits. He said that the Last Judgement had already occurred, in 1757, though only visible in the spiritual world, where he had witnessed it. That Judgement was followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which occurred, not by Christ in person, but by a revelation from Him through the inner, spiritual sense of the Word to Swedenborg. Currently I am unaware if any particular motivation other than financial that exists in Dr. Oz's endeavors, however, ample evidence does exist that he appears to be firmly grounded in beliefs and practices that are in opposition and even forbidden by the Creator of the universe.
Be aware who receives your praise, whether advisors of marriage, family, business, or simply healthy living, all people base their understanding and instruction on their innermost spiritual beliefs.
As you no doubt have seen in these perilous times, many people becon for our attention, drawing us toward the ways of the world, slowly and subtly undermining the truth of scripture, quietly and compassionately calling you toward their system of beliefs, gently gaining your trust and eventual involvement because they care for you more than the rest.
Countless individuals follow the spiritual path of someone they deeply trust whether some alternative motive exist or not.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Shine the light of scripture on all things and the evil deeds of darkness will be exposed.
Anyone can say God is Good or even claim to be a Christian, but it it is he who has died to self and forsaken his sinful ways and trusts the Christ who bled and died for them, this is this one who is truly a child of the King.

  1. You say cult like its a bad thing ;) you should really look into his beliefs to relate to him on a human level, or would God totally smite you for that? I'm sure your faith is strong enough Dr. Oz isn't going to taint you
